Dr. Joel Broeckelman , PT, DPT, was born in Mankato, Kansas, a town of about 800 people. He graduated from PTA school in 2017 and later earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Wichita State University in 2023.

When he’s not in the clinic, Joel loves staying active and competitive—whether that’s playing sports, going for long walks, or exploring new parks with his wife, Maddy, and their three boys.

Compassionate, loyal, and a little goofy, Joel brings a lighthearted but steady energy to everything he does. The best part of his story so far has been seeing how faith and family have carried him through life’s transitions—new cities, new degrees, and the adventure of raising three boys.

He’s passionate about building friendships with the people he treats, walking with them through life’s challenges, and celebrating every step of progress along the way. Most people are surprised to learn he graduated with only 16 students in his senior class.

When he feels most like himself, Joel says it’s right here at Freedom Physical Therapy and Training Center, where he can serve others, listen to their stories, and make a meaningful impact. He’s currently working on the daily habit of waking up early to pray and prepare for the day.
